Charting the Heart of God Through Dreams & Visions
Rev. Dr. Barbara Sargent Green, D.Min.
Reverend Dr. Barbara Sargent Green recently concluded twenty years of faithful service as Senior Pastor of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Memphis, Tennessee (2005–2025) and is currently on sabbatical. An ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, she accepted her call to preach in May 1990 and has devoted her ministry to spiritual discernment, leadership development, and congregational vitality.
The Right Reverend Vashti Murphy McKenzie, the 117th elected and consecrated Bishop of the A.M.E. Church appointed Dr. Green to Bethel A.M.E. Church on October 29, 2005. Prior to accepting the Pastorate at Bethel, she Pastored two other congregations. Dr. Green currently serves as the 13th District WIM Treasurer, 13th District Spiritual Formation Coordinator, Vice Chair of the West Tennessee Conference Trustees, Secretary for the West Tennessee Annual Conference and an instructor for the West Tennessee Board of Examiners.
She earned an Associate Degree from Durham Business College, in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Green also earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management from Crichton College, graduating cum laude and as a charter member of Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society. She received her Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from
Memphis Theological Seminary. Her 2019 doctoral dissertation, “Seeing The Heart of God – Dreams and Visions: A Means of Discernment,” explored how spiritual discernment strengthens leadership and nurtures healthy congregations. Out of that research and pastoral experience, Dr. Green expanded her work beyond the seminary and into practical ministry resources. In 2024, she and her daughter co-authored their first book “Charting the Heart of God Through Dreams & Visions,” along with a companion journal, equipping believers and leaders to cultivate deeper spiritual awareness and clarity in decision-making.
In addition to her pastoral leadership, Dr. Green founded the Dreamers Conference in 2019 to teach biblical foundations for how God continues to guide His people. Now preparing for its fifth convening in October 2026, the conference continues to draw individuals seeking spiritual growth and renewal.
Before entering full-time ministry, Dr. Green retired from International Paper Company after 34 years as a Business Specialist, bringing both corporate leadership experience and pastoral wisdom to her work in church health.
Dr. Green is a native of Georgetown, South Carolina. She relocated to Memphis, TN from Flanders, NJ in 1987, and has been joyfully married to Archie Jacob Green, Jr., for forty-eight years. They are blessed with a daughter, Brandice, who holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering. Dr. Green is blessed to have a son-in-love, Brandon and two grandchildren, Braya
Catherine, and Barrett Alexander.

Brandice G. Weathers, Ph.D
Brandice Green Weathers was born in Georgetown, South Carolina and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. She is a graduate of White Station High School. Weathers received her Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 2004 and 2008, she received her Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy, respectively, in Materials Science and Engineering. Brandice has worked as a materials engineer since 2009 and in 2022, received the Black Engineer of the Year Award for Professional Achievement in Government.
Brandice is wife to Brandon and mother to Braya and Barrett. She lives with her family in northern Virginia where they are members of Woodlawn Faith United Methodist Church. Brandice is on a lifelong journey to consistent prayer and meditation so that she can receive the revelation of God and understand how she and her family fit into His bigger plan. Her prayer is to have the courage to give what God asks and receive all that He has for her and her family.
