Rev. Dr. Barbara Sargent Green, D.Min.

Reverend Green currently serves as Senior Pastor of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Memphis, Tennessee. She is a native of Georgetown, South Carolina. Dr. Green relocated from Flanders, New Jersey to Memphis, Tennessee in 1987. She accepted the call to preach in May 1990. She is an ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She received both her Itinerate Deacon and Itinerate Elder ordination by Bishop Vernon R. Byrd.

 

Dr. Green is a graduate of Howard High School in Georgetown, South Carolina. She earned an Associate Degree from Durham Business College, in Durham, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management from Crichton College in Memphis, Tennessee where she graduated cum laude and was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society (ASL) where she was a charter member. She received a Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary in May 2012 where she was the recipient of the African American Scholarship. Pastor Green completed her Doctor of Ministry in the Leadership Track at Memphis Theological Seminary in May 2019 with a dissertation entitled “Seeing The Heart Of God – Dreams And Visions A Means of Discernment.”

The Right Reverend Vashti Murphy McKenzie, the 117th elected and consecrated Bishop of the A.M.E. Church appointed Dr. Green to Bethel A.M.E. Church on October 29, 2005. Prior to accepting the Pastorate at Bethel, she Pastored two other congregations. On August 2, 2025, Dr. Green celebrated the mortgage burning for Bethel AME Church and the church is now debt free.

 

Dr. Green organized her 1st Dreamers Conference in September 2019 with 93 people registered. She most recently convened “The 2nd and 3rd Annual Dreamers Conference” on September 30, 2023, September 27-28, 2024 which were hybrid with a total attendance of 78. The purpose of the Conference was to make aware to the attendees through Scripture that God continues to speak today as God spoke to the saints in the Old and New Testaments through dreams and visions. Dr. Green and her daughter Brandice A. Weathers, Ph.D., co-authored their first book which was released in August 2024, entitled “Charting the Heart of God Through Dreams & Visions.” The book will awaken your curiosity and kindle your desire to delve deeper into the heart of God's messages revealed through dreams and visions.

 

She retired from International Paper Company in June 2009 after 34 years of employment as a Business Specialist. Dr. Green is wonderfully married to Archie Jacob Green, Jr. On September 16, 2025 they celebrated 47 years of marriage. They are blessed with a daughter, Brandice, who holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering. Dr. Green is blessed to have a son-in-love, Brandon Rashad Weathers and two grandchildren, Braya Catherine, and Barrett Alexander.

Books and Branch

Brandice G. Weathers, Ph.D

Brandice Green Weathers was born in Georgetown, South Carolina and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee.  She is a graduate of White Station High School.  Weathers received her Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  In 2004 and 2008, she received her Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy, respectively, in Materials Science and Engineering.  Brandice has worked as a materials engineer since 2009 and in 2022, received the Black Engineer of the Year Award for Professional Achievement in Government.

Brandice is wife to Brandon and mother to Braya and Barrett.  She lives with her family in northern Virginia where they are members of Woodlawn Faith United Methodist Church.  Brandice is on a lifelong journey to consistent prayer and meditation so that she can receive the revelation of God and understand how she and her family fit into His bigger plan.  Her prayer is to have the courage to give what God asks and receive all that He has for her and her family.
